No. 10 WACO (5-0, 3-0) at New London (2-1, 1-1)
Site, time: New London High School, 7 p.m.
Overview: Undefeated WACO comes to New London for Homecoming Week in a matchup in Class 8-Player District 6. WACO comes in 5-0 and in first place, but New London has won the last four games between the two squads.
No. 5 (1A) Sigourney-Keota (4-0, 1-0) at No. 7 (1A) Pella Christian (3-0, 1-0)
Site, time: Pella Christian High School, 7 p.m.
Overview: In what will be the first of two huge games for Sigourney-Keota, the Cobras take on Pella Christian in a game between ranked teams.
The Cobras have dominated each of their last three games, and Pella Christian has rolled to a 4-0 start as well. The Cobras could make huge strides if they can beat the Eagles this week and take down another undefeated in Cardinal seven days later.
Winfield-Mount Union (3-1, 2-1) at Lone Tree (3-1, 1-1)
Site, time: Lone Tree High School, 6:30 p.m.
Overview: The Wolves haven’t beaten Lone Tree since 2015, but this would be the right year to do it. If Winfield-Mount Union wins, they’ll move to 3-1 in the district and be right in the middle of the Class 8-Player playoff mix.
Highland (2-2, 2-0) at Alburnett (1-3, 1-1)
Site, time: Alburnett Martin Complex, 7 p.m.
Overview: Highland comes in with a 2-2 record after a 20-point win over North Cedar last week. The Huskies look for some revenge on the one-win Pirates after a 40-19 loss in last year’s showdown.
Pekin (0-4, 0-3) at Columbus (1-3, 0-3)
Site, time: Columbus High School, 7 p.m.
Overview: A pair of struggling teams meet as Pekin heads to Columbus looking for its first win. The Wildcats have lost three-straight since a 9-6 win over Louisa-Muscatine to start the season.
Van Buren County (2-1, 0-1) at Cardinal (4-0, 1-0)
Site, time: Cardinal High School, 7 p.m.
Overview: A 4-0 Cardinal squad looks for another win over rival Van Buren County. The Comets have won four out of the last five, so the Warriors will be looking for revenge.
Van Buren County will be coming off a COVID-19 forfeit last week, so they’ll have two weeks of rest ahead of the rivalry game.
Mid-Prairie (2-2, 1-0) at Central Lee (0-4, 0-1)
Site, time: Central Lee High School, 7:30 p.m.
Overview: Mid-Prairie looks to jump above .500 with a road game against a struggling Central Lee squad.
Central Lee has scored just 13 points in four games and has given up 46 points or more in each, all blowout losses. The Golden Hawks have beaten Central Lee in each of the last four matchups.
The WACO Warriors' defense smothers an English Valleys runner during WACO's 38-13 win on Sept. 10.
