MID-Prairie 69, Anamosa 32
The Golden Hawks had no trouble in a home throttling of Anamosa, taking control in the first quarter and never looking back.
Amara Jones scored 15 points and dished out 10 assists to lead Mid-Prairie. Josie Greiner scored 12 points, including four made shots from 3-point land.
Knoxville 30, Cardinal 33
The Comets had a lot of trouble in their South Central Conference opener. Knoxville junior Brittany Bacorn scored 36 points as the Comets fell to 0-1.
Sigourney 45, Keota 32
Keota played its rivals tough but couldn’t pull out a win in South Iowa Cedar League play.
WACO 57, Wapello 19
WACO scooped up its second win in Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division play, tagging Wapello by 38 points.
Ellah Kissell scored 27 points for WACO in the victory. Grace Coble had 12.
No. 15 (1A) Winfield-Mount Union 49, Pekin 10
WMU shut Pekin out 17-0 in the first quarter and led 37-2 at halftime to run away with a North Division victory.
Bradie Buffington had 16 points and 10 rebounds for WMU. Melina Oepping scored 14, and Keely Malone had 11 points and eight assists.
Pekin was led by Emma Phillips, who scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Columbus 33, Louisa-Muscatine 29
Columbus pulled out a thrilling comeback win over Louisa-Muscatine, despite being down 16-12 at halftime.
Sera Vela put up 14 points for the Wildcats, and also finished with five steals. Victoria Howell had eight, and Ariana Vergara scored four.
Louisa Muscatine 38, Highland 29 (2OT)
A defensive grinder turned into a double-overtime nail-biter as Highland lost a heartbreaker in North Division action.
Jessica Kraus scored 13 points in the loss. Sarah Burton had nine points and 11 rebounds. Katie Herrig pulled down 11 boards as well.
Central Lee 65, New London 55
New London didn’t win, but the Tigers did come closer to beating Central Lee than they have since 2019.
Sophomore Mylee Miller scored 21 points to lead the team. She also grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked four shots. Sophie Malott had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
No. 14 (1A) Notre Dame 63, Van Buren County 29
Van Buren County had its hands full and couldn’t pull the upset in Burlington.
Notre Dame had three double-digit scorers as the Nikes staved off the upset bid.
