MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant senior Nolan Frueh signed his letter of intent last week to join the track and field team at Mount Mercy University.
Frueh was one of the top throwers for Mt. Pleasant last season, and he says as he got older, he started thinking about throwing at the next level.
“I didn't really think about it freshman and sophomore year,” Frueh said. “My junior year, I thought about it, and talked to Coach Striegel.”
He will join a Mustang team that finished fourth out of 12 teams in the Heart of America Outdoor championships last year.
Frueh says he plans on studying Criminal Justice in college. That won’t be the only thing he’ll be learning, as he will go from a shot put and discus thrower to adding weight throw and hammer to his resume.
“I’ve never thrown hammer before,” Frueh said. “It will be a good opportunity.”
Frueh and the Panther track and field teams will get back onto the track in less than a month. He says the sky is the limit for the 2025 season.
