FAIRFIELD — Fairfield senior Ryan Giberson will be off to Indianola next school year to jump for the Simpson College men’s track and field team.
Giberson signed his letter of intent last month at Fairfield High School.
Giberson is coming off a big year for the Trojans, finishing seventh at the state high jump competition in Class 3A. He and junior teammate Eli Zillman earned all Trojan points in the high jump competition.
Giberson jumped six foot, three inches at both state and the Drake Relays. At Drake, he took sixth place, above teammate Zillman by three spots.
Giberson was also the Southeast Conference champion last spring, leaping 6 foot, 2 inches.
He will be joining a Storm squad that finished sixth place at last year’s American River Conference Outdoor Championships. Earlier this week, Simpson was sixth at the 2025 ARC Indoors.
Giberson spoke about his time growing as an athlete at Fairfield high school, and said he and his squad are ready for this spring, where the Trojans will attempt to climb the SEC ladder after a fourth-place finish last season.
The Trojan boys are certainly a team to keep track of this season. Fairfield brings all of its points back from the 2024 state meet, and all three of its individual qualifiers, all of which finished in the Top-15 in Class 3A.
