Columbus 64, Lone Tree 58
Columbus picked up win number two on the season with a victory over Lone Tree.
The Wildcats led 32-23 at the half. The Lions just edged the Wildcats 35-34 in the second half.
Ariana Vergara finished with 21 points for Columbus. Lily Coil had 17 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists. Frannie Sosa totaled 11 points.
Highland 45, Hillcrest Academy 42
Highland picked up its fourth straight win on Tuesday with a nailbitter against Hillcrest Academy in overtime.
Highland trailed after the first half, but later took a 34-32 lead into the fourth.
The Ravens won the final period 9-7 to send it to overtime, but the Huskies won the extra period 4-1.
Sarah Burton scored 26 points to lead Highland, followed by Kerra Longbine with eight.
Claire Withrow paced the Ravens with 21 points. Malia Yoder finished with 13.
Van Buren County 40, New London 32
Van Buren County led New London by just three after one quarter on Tuesday and the Tigers took advantage in the second.
New London outscored the Warriors 11-4 for a 20-16 halftime lead, but in the second half VBC won the scoring battle 24-12.
Ivy Davison and Marlee Mertens each had 16 points for VBC.
Mylee Miller ended with 12 points for New London, followed by Sophie Malott with eight.
Wapello 46, Pekin 34
Pekin suffered a loss to Wapello on Tuesday after giving up 27 points in the first half. The Panthers scored just 11 in the half themselves.
In the second, the Panthers outscored the Arrows 23-19, but it wasn’t enough to win it.
No. 3 Benton 66, Mid-Prairie 45
Mid-Prairie fell to a tough Benton squad on Tuesday.
The No. 3 Bobcats held a commanding 37-19 after the first two quarters of action. Mid-Prairie did win the third 14-13, but the deficit was too great as Benton bounced back with a 16-12 fourth for insurance.
Callie Huber led the Golden Hawks with 12 points and 11 boards. Nora Pennington had 12 points as well. Morgyn Bender finished with six.
Louisa-Muscatine 45, Winfield-Mt. Union 27
Winfield-Mt. Union suffered defeat number two with the loss to L-M on Tuesday night.
The Wolves were outscored 27-12 in the opening half and then 18-15 in the second.
Madisen Kellogg had 12 points for WMU, Pacey Schlee nine and Maggie Hutton two.
