Girls basketball roundup: Cardinal picks up first win

It was another busy week for Union area girls basketball teams. The weeks slates were capped off on Saturday with a handful of games.
Cardinal (1-1) 38, Moravia (1-2) 35
Cardinal was able to edge Moravia for its first victory of the year on Saturday afternoon.
The Comets led 9-6 after one and 16-15 at the half. Heading into the fourth the two squads were knotted up at 24, but the Comets were able to take the fourth 14-11 to win it.
Northeast (1-0) 58, Mid-Prairie (2-2) 48
Mid-Prairie is at .500 after the loss to Northeast.
The Golden Hawks led 18-14 after one quarter of play, but the Rebels won the second 20-9 to take a 34-27 lead into the locker room. Heading into the fourth, the Golden Hawks trailed just 41-39, but Northeast would win the final quarter 17-9.
Amara Jones finished with 13 points for Mid-Prairie. Landry Pacha added 12. Nora Pennington and Brylee Gearhart each ended with five. Maya Nonnenmann and Josie Greiner both had foru. Kylie Reinier three and Jovi Evans two.
Marquette Catholic (4-0) 66, Hillcrest Academy (0-4) 10
Hillcrest Academy is still looking for its first win of the season as the Ravens had a tough go against Marquette Catholic.
The Ravens were held under five points in each of the four quarters, as Marquette won the scoring battle, 21-3, 14-3, 22-2 and 9-2.
