Girls basketball roundup: Keota survives thriller

No. 11 Winfield-Mt. Union 70, Lone Tree 29
WMU was slow to start against Lone Tree on Friday, leading just 13-11 after one.
But the Wolves picked it up the rest of the way out, allowing just 18 points in the final three quarters.
Winfield-Mt. Union outscored the Lions 13-8, 22-4 and 22-6 in the final three periods.
Melina Oepping finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds for WMU. Keely Malone added 17 and Keetyn Townsley finished with 12.
WACO 53, Pekin 29
WACO and Pekin were tight after one quarter, as the Warriors held a 15-10 lead.
WACO turned it up a notch in the second. The Warriors outscored the Panthers 12-4, 16-8 and 10-7 in the final three quarters.
Renae Eubanks led the Panthers in scoring with nine points, all from behind the line. Emma Phillips put up eight points and had four rebounds, and Brooke Miller put five points on the board and had five rebounds and three assists. Alex Parsons added three points, while Claire Roth and Maggy Dickey each added two.
Keota 44, HLV 42
Keota won a down to the wire battle against HLV on Friday.
The Eagles outscored the Warriors just 26-24 in the first half.
HLV took the lead heading into the fourth after a 10-7 third quarter, but the Eagles bounced back with a 11-7 quarter to win it.
Macie McDonald led Keota with 18 points. Kimberly Clarahan followed with 10 and Grace Conger added eight.
Columbus 39, Hillcrest Academy 18
Columbus did well to hinder Hillcrest Academy on Friday.
The Wildcats held the Ravens to single digits in each quarter, outscoring them 17-4, 9-7 and 10-2.
Hillcrest took the fourth 5-3, but it was too late.
Aracely Garza finished with 10 points for Columbus. Sara Vela and Ariana Vergara each ended with nine.
Clarke 69, Cardinal 26
Cardinal kept it close for a quarter against Clarke on Friday night.
The Comets trailed just 23-16 after one, but the Indians outscored the Comets 28-2 in the second to take a 51-18 lead into the second half.
Cardinal scored just eight points between the third and fourth quarter, while Clarke finished with 18.
No. 13 Mediapolis 73, Van Buren County 27
Van Buren struggled against the 13 rated Bullets on Friday.
The Warriors were outscored 17-6, 19-10, 16-4 and 21-7.
Sigourney 58, Pekin 13
Pekin struggled to put the ball in the basket against Sigourney in the two’s Saturday matchup.
The Panthers scored just eight points in the first half and five in the second. Brooke Miller shot a three-pointer and had two rebounds and two assists. Anna Hadley added three points and pulled down nine rebounds. Claire Roth, Emma Phillips, and Abby Guise each added two points for Pekin, and Maggy Dickey added one.
No. 10 Notre Dame 64, New London 33
New London gave it all they had, but couldn’t slow the No. 10 Nikes on Friday.
The Tigers were outscored in three of four quarters, 31-7, 12-7 and 16-9.
They trailed 59-23 heading into the fourth. The Tigers closed the game with a 10-5 quarter.
Mylee Miller led the Tigers with 12 points. Sophie Malott had eight. Natalie Burden added four.
