Girls basketball roundup: WACO slips by Pekin

WACO earned revenge on Pekin in Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division action to highlight a busy Friday night of small school girls basketball.
WACO 41, Pekin 35
The Warriors used a 17-point third quarter to pull past Pekin at home. Emma Wagler had a monster game, scoring 19 points to lead WACO.
Abby Guise put up 10 points and nine rebounds to pace Pekin. Anna Hadley flirted with a double-double as well, going for eight points and nine boards.
Columbus 44, Hillcrest Academy 11
The Wildcats bounced back from a loss last week and showed off incredible defense against the Ravens.
Lily Coil filled the stat sheet for Columbus, going for 15 points, 15 rebounds and nine steals. Ariana Vergara finished with 12 points and seven steals.
Lone Tree 64, Winfield-Mount Union 46
Winfield-Mount Union couldn’t knock off the first-place Lions in an SEISC North battle.
The Lone Tree offense was too much for WMU. The Lions led 21-8 after one quarter, 38-17 at halftime and 57-28 after three quarters.
Notre Dame 83, New London 21
The Tigers had their hands full as a tough Notre Dame team came into town and scored 31 first quarter points.
Mylee Miller put up 11 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers. Sophie Malott ended with 10 points.
Mediapolis 57, Van Buren County 33
Mediapolis’ defense shut VBC out in the first quarter and rolled on to a SEISC South win.
Ivy Davidson led the Warriors with 14 points in the loss.
Keota 55, Colfax-Mingo 23
Keota rolled past Colfax-Mingo at home. The Eagles jumped out to a 16-2 lead after one quarter and never looked back.
Kennedy Jackson went off for 27 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals in the win. Kimberly Clarahan hit three 3-pointers for nine points. She and Grace Conger coled the team with seven assists.
No. 11 (4A) Maquoketa 73, Mid-Prairie 37
Mid-Prairie couldn’t hold down a ranked Maquoketa team, dropping its second game in a row against rated competition.
Callie Huber finished with nine points and 10 rebounds to lead MId-Prairie. Morgyn Bender scored nine points off the bench.
Clarke 60, Cardinal 44
Cardinal hung in with a tough Clarke team but the Comets couldn’t put it together late, dropping a South Central Conference battle.
Kolbi Saner had a huge game in the loss, putting up 17 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Emma Becker scored eight.
