Girls heat up, Fairfield bowling splits

OTTUMWA - The Fairfield girls had the hot hand on Thursday night when they hosted Burlington in a Southeast Conference bowling meet. The Trojan girls had five bowlers over 300 in a 2,325-2,142 win over the Grayhounds, their highest output of the season. The boys lost 2,778-2,557.
Karen Ehret had a monster day for the Trojan girls. She rolled a 131 in her first game and a 215 in her second game to lead the way with a 346. Airianna Taylor finished the day at 331, and Lilly Huff rolled a 322.
McKayla Taylor sneaked above the 300 mark with a 305. Hope Brammer wasn't far behind her, ending at 300, and Willow Elliott finished the day at 229.
The Trojan girls narrowly lost in the Baker round. Burlington nipped the Trojans 725-721, but Fairfield had plenty of room to hang on from the individual games.
The Fairfield boys were led by a 381 from Gannon Scott. He rolled a 166 in his first game and a 215 in his second. Wyatt Baker rolled a 348, and Chance Swan finished at 345.
Chris Kyle was the fourth Trojan above 300, rolling a 307. Drake Drish wasn't far behind him, with a 296, and Quint Stark ended the day at 279.
The Fairfield boys lost the Baker round, 885-880.
The Trojans will be back in action on Thursday when they hit the road to bowl at Mt. Pleasant.
