As the high school girls soccer regular season draws closer to a close, it means teams are now preparing for the postseason.
Thanks to the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, teams from around the state now know what it will take to earn a trip to the state tournament.
Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield are both in the Class 2A Region 5 bracket.
Mt. Pleasant (7-5) is matched up with Iowa City Liberty (7-7). The winner will play Pella (8-6) in the semifinals.
Fairfield (0-12) is set to take on Oskaloosa (0-11) in the opening round. First seeded Norwalk (12-2) awaits in the semifinal.
In Class 1A Region 7, Washington and Mid-Prairie are both featured and on the same side of the bracket.
The Demons (9-5) drew Central Lee (9-4) in their first round matchup.
Mid-Prairie (7-5) will take on Solon (11-3) in their first game.
Should both win, they will square off against each other in the regional semifinal.
Van Meter (7-5) and Chariton (4-6) will battle on the opposite side of the bracket, along with Knoxville (8-6) and Centerville (8-6).
Rounding out the girls area teams is Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union.
The Wildcats are representing in the Class 1A Region 8 bracket.
At 2-8, the Wildcats will take on Mediapolis (5-9) in the opening round.
The winner will play either Davenport Assumption (9-4), West Liberty (5-7) or Wapello (1-8) in the second round.
On the opposite side of the bracket, Wahlert Catholic (4-8) faces Northeast (2-8) and Marquette Catholic (5-7) plays Maquoketa (1-9).
