Mid-Prairie 40, West Liberty 38
Mid-Prairie and West Liberty were close throughout the entire game.
At the break, the Golden Hawks held just a one-point lead, 17-16.
They were able to get some space following a 10-8 third quarter, making it 27-24 heading into the fourth.
That margin would prove to be enough, despite the Comets outscoring the Golden Hawks 14-13 in the fourth.
Maddie Nonnenmann poured in 23 points for Mid-Prairie and Amara Jones added seven.
The Golden Hawks are now 11-5 with the victory.
Wapello 43, Hillcrest Academy 23
A slow first half was the Ravens downfall against Wapello.
Hillcrest Academy went scoreless in the first quarter, 11-0. In the second, Wapello scored another 11 points to Hillcrest’s three. Wapello led 22-3 at the break.
In the third, the Ravens gained some momentum outscoring the Arrows 15-10, but still trailed 32-18. Hillcrest couldn’t hold that momentum in the fourth and Wapello won the scoring battle 11-5.
Hillcrest Academy falls to 1-14.
Holy Trinity Catholic 52, Cardinal 30
Cardinal struggled on both ends of the court in the loss to Holy Trinity.
The Comets were held to just 11 points in the first half. The Crusaders led 28-11 at the halftime break.
In the second half, the Comets were more competitive, but couldn’t make up the deficit from the first. Cardinal was outscored 23-19 in the second half.
Emma Becker led the Comets with 12 points. Kinsey Hissem added six.
Cardinal drops to 4-13 with the loss.
