Girls roundup: Mt. Pleasant wins third straight, Highland wins big

In weekend girls basketball action, a handful of area girls basketball teams saw success, coming away with big wins.
Mt. Pleasant 50, Central Lee 36 (Saturday)
Mt. Pleasant gets its third win in a row with the victory over Central Lee.
The Panthers outscored the Hawks 30-23 in the first half and 19-13 in the second half to grab a non-conference win.
The Panthers are now back at .500, 8-8, with the win.
WACO 42, Cardinal 39
WACO and Cardinal went down to the wire with the Warriors getting the edge in the end.
At the half, WACO held just a two point lead, 15-13. The Warriors were able to pull out the win after outscoring the Comets 27-24 in the second half.
Emma Becker finished with 15 points for the Comets and Kinsey Hissem added eight.
The Warriors get back to .500 at 7-7 and the Comets fall to 3-10.
Highland 57, Wapello 17
Highland had no problem against Wapello on Friday night.
The Huskies held the Arrows to under 10 points in all four quarters.
Highland outscored Wapello 13-7 is the first, 17-2 in the second, 17-4 in the third, and 10-4 in the fourth.
Highland improves to 5-9.
Mid-Prairie 54, Camanche 35
A huge third propelled the Golden Hawks to victory Friday.
Mid-Prairie held a three point lead, 23-19, at the break, but went on to outscore the Storm 20-8 in the third to extend the lead to 43-27 heading into the fourth. An 11-8 fourth by Mid-Prairie secured the win.
Maddie Nonnenmann finished with 14 points for the Golden Hawks and Cana Rediger ended with nine.
Mid-Prairie is now 10-5 on the season.
Columbus 49, Hillcrest Academy 33
Columbus held Hillcrest to single digits in three quarters to pick up a Southeast Iowa Super Conference win.
The Wildcats held a 24-13 lead after one half and outscored the Ravens 25-20 in the second half on the way to the win.
Columbus picks up its second win of the season, 2-1, while Hillcrest Academy falls to 1-11.
Louisa-Muscatine 34, Pekin 26
Pekin led after one 10-4, but the Panthers were outscored in the final three quarters.
Louisa-Muscatine outscored Pekin, 15-7 in the second, 5-2 in the third, and 10-7 in the fourth.
Sigourney 33, Keota 26
Neither Sigourney or Keota scored in double digits in a quarter Friday night until the fourth.
Keota held a 14-12 lead at the break and a 21-19 lead after the third. Sigourney took the lead in the fourth and never lost after outscoring the Eagles 14-5 in the quarter.
Keota drops to 4-10 with the loss.
