Girls roundup: SEISC girls shootout results
Highland gets big win, New London secures first win

Southeast Iowa Super Conference North and South girls teams were in action against each other on Friday night in the SEISC Shootout. The girls did not disappoint on the competitive side of things as nearly every matchup came down to the wire.
Highland 46, Holy Trinity Catholic 44
Highland defeated Holy Trinity Catholic in the first of two games at Louisa-Muscatine. The Huskies used a strong second and third quarter to edge the Crusaders in a matchup of fourth seeds.
Highland trailed 10-8 after one, but used a 13-4 second to take a 21-14 lead at the half. The Huskies took the third 14-11, to make it a 10 point game heading into the fourth, 35-25. The Crusaders fought back with a 19-11 fourth, but the Huskies were able to hold on.
Abbi Stransky led the Huskies with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Dani Laughlin followed with 10 points.
WACO 45, Lone Tree 33
WACO used a big first half to defeat Lone Tree on its home court in a game between seven seeds.
The Warriors outscored the Lions 24-13 in the first half and 21-20 in the second half.
Grace Coble paced WACO with 21 points. Ellah Kissell finished with 13.
Cardinal 45, Columbus 33
In a matchup of eighth seeds, the Comets were able to hold the Wildcats to single digits in three of the fourth quarters to pull out a win.
Cardinal outscored Columbus 19-8 in the first quarter, but Columbus turned it around, winning the second and third, 21-12, making it a 31-29 game heading into the fourth. The Comets used a 14-4 fourth to seal the win.
Kinsey Hissem scored 17 and grabbed 11 rebounds for Cardinal. Emma Becker added 13 points and seven rebounds.
Lily Coil scored 15 for Columbus and pulled down nine rebounds. Ariana Vergara had seven points.
New London 47, Hillcrest Academy 43
The Tigers picked up their first win of the season against the Ravens in a game between nine seeds.
Natalie Burden led New London with 16 points and Ashlyn McSorley added 10.
For the Ravens, Esther Hughes scored a game-high 24. Malia Yoder finished with 12.
Danville 52, Pekin 41
In a matchup between SEISC fifth seeds, Pekin was edged by Danville.
Danville led 13-3 after one and 27-19 at the half. After the third, Pekin trailed 42-31. The Panthers fought back, but a 10-10 fourth sealed a Danville win.
Kerrigan Pope finished with 21 points for Pekin and Sarah Eubanks chipped in nine.
Wapello 40, Van Buren County 35
Van Buren County fell in a tight race against Wapello in a SEISC North and South sixth seed contest.
The Warriors led 12-10 after one quarter, but trailed the rest of the way. Wapello led 22-20 at the break and 28-27 at the end of the third. The Arrows pulled away with a 12-8 fourth.
