As the spring season continues to open its doors, it means that Union area teams are beginning their soccer seasons.
Last week, a handful of teams kicked off their season on the pitch.
Central Lee 7, Columbus/WMU 0
The Wildcats struggled on both sides of the ball in the Friday match against the Hawks of Central Lee.
On the offensive end, Columbus created an abundance of chances. The Wildcats took a total of 10 shots, but just four were heading toward the goal.
Central Lee bombarded Columbus with a total of 26 shots, 16 of which were on target.
The Wildcats Alynna Leos did just about all she could in goal, amassing 19 total saves.
Columbus faced Mt. Pleasant on Monday, April 4 and will square off with Mid-Prairie on Thursday, April 7.
Williamsburg 1, Mid-Prairie 0
The Golden Hawks fell just short in their season opener against Williamsburg on April 1.
Mid-Prairie played efficient defense for the majority of the contest, holding the game at 0-0 until late in the second half. The Raiders were able to answer with a late second half goal to take the advantage and they never lost it, spoiling the Golden Hawks opener.
Mid-Prairie will look to get on track on Tuesday, April 5 in a matchup with Mediapolis (1-1).
