Today (Thursday) marks the home opener for the Mt. Pleasant girls' soccer team. The Panther girls are ready to roll for their second game of the year after taking out Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union 2-1 in their season opener on Monday.
The Panthers will take on Ottumwa in another nonconference game. Mt. Pleasant took last year's game 3-1 in Ottumwa.
Four of Mt. Pleasant's other spring sports teams are on the road. Both track teams will be running at Case Field in Washington, and both golf teams will be on the road as well.
The girls' golf team will be playing at Elks Fairview Golf Club in Keokuk. Mt. Pleasant will play against the hosting Chiefs, Burlington, Fairfield, Notre Dame and defending state champion Washington.
The boys' team will be in Washington. They'll be playing against two SEC squads, Keokuk and Washington.
Mt. Pleasant's tennis teams are the only spring sports teams not in action today. Both tennis teams, however, will play over the weekend.
