Girls volleyball camps on tap

Fairfield High School head volleyball coach Nancy Diers will be leading three girls volleyball camps this summer.

Two camps have been scheduled June 18-22, and yet another will be Aug. 6-8 at Fairfield High School.

A camp for girls going into grades four and five will be held from 3-4 p.m. the week of June 18. The skills for forearm passing and serving and setting will be addressed, and general rules, terminology and rotation procedures will be shown. Daily prizes will be awarded.

Children in grades six through eight will meet from 1-3 p.m. June 18-22, and grades eight through 12 will meet from 8:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 6-8. The skills of passing, setting, hitting and serving will be emphasized in drills involving individual and team concepts. Match play involving strategies and coverages on the court also will be implemented into the camp.

Cost for the fourth- through fifth-grade camp is $20. The two additional camps cost $40 each.
