Girls wrestling: Area girls show out over the weekend

Keokuk Girls Invite
Fairfield, Cardinal and Columbus/WMU all competed in the Keokuk Girls Invite on Saturday.
Fairfield was led by Samantha Lyon’s at 170. Lyon’s finished first overall. Other placer for the Trojans were Katie Scotton at 125 and Vianney Gonzalez at 120, who both placed fifth.
For Cardinal, Macy Grove placed first at 130 as well did Ajaah Cox at 155.
The Comets had quartet of second-place finishers as Abigail Durflinger (105), Bryleigh Sparks (125), Skyllar Welch (170) and Haylie Keasling all notched the finish.
Josie Nelson led Columbus/WMU with a first overall finish at 140. Yaleen Miranda placed second at 135 and Jana Isanta third at 120.
Other finishers for the Wolves were Mirel Valencia at 155 and Jada Moats at 190. Both notched fourth.
Marion HS Girls Wrestling Tournament
Highland and Sigourney-Keota were the lone two Union area schools to compete at Marions Girls Wrestling Tournament on Saturday.
The Huskies finished 11th in the competition with 127 points, while Sigourney-Keota ended in 18th with 51.5 total team points.
Highland highest finisher on the day was Angelina Roling at 110. Roling was a second-place finisher at the the weight.
Lilly Barre (120) and Chloe Sexton (190) both notched fourth overall finishes.
Abbie Grout (100), Peggy Miller (155) and Jenna Bose (155) placed sixth, ninth and 10th respectively.
Sigourney-Keota’s had one wrestler in the competition, in the form of Reanah Utterback. Utterback was a first-place finisher at 115.
Riverside Girls Wrestling Invitational
Pekin was the lone area school to compete in the invitational.
The Panthers finished 13th when all was said and done.
Lila Miller was the Panthers highest placer, taking first at 140. The lone other placer for Pekin was Hannah Kaska at 170. Kaska finished sixth.
Alyvia Traner (105), Alyssa Sylvester (110), Ayla Banes (120), Reece Brisby (125), Ivory Small (135) and Audra Steigleder (145) all competed as well.
Vinton-Shellsburg Girls Invitational
Mid-Prairie and WACO both competed in the Vinton-Shellsburg Invitational on Saturday.
For Mid-Prairie, Ellie Brenneman was the highest placer. Brenneman finished second at 140. Ashlee Farrier followed with a third-place finish at 130.
Austyn Sexton (115), Shelby Stacey (235) and Ellie Callahan (170) all finished sixth. Mardie Berry placed seventh at 155.
WACO was paced by Elyssa Graber. Graber finished third at 105. Macy Bonebrake finished fifth at 190 and Rylee Rice took eighth at 115.
Cayten Coakley (115), Athena Flores (120) and Emma Szewczyk (155) all competed as well for WACO.
