Girls wrestling roundup: Mid-Prairie wins tournament
Golden Hawks take home meet in 14 team field

For Union area girls wrestling teams, it was another busy weekend in which a handful of teams competed across two separate tournaments.
Mid-Prairie, WACO, Washington and Mt. Pleasant were all in action at the Golden Hawks own Mid-Prairie Girls Invitational.
For Mid-Prairie, it was a wonderful day on the mat as the Golden Hawks took first overall as a team with 138 total points.
WACO followed the Union area teams with a seventh-place finished tallying 72 points. Washington finished in 10th with 36 points. Mt. Pleasant took 12th with a total of 26 points.
The Golden Hawks had two winners in their home meet.
In the 100 pound match, Gabi Robertson took first with a trio of falls. Ellie Brenneman took first overall at 135 with a pair of falls and a forfeit.
Ashlee Farrier (125) and Mia Garvey (145) both took second in their classes. Grace Conway finished third at 140, while both Ellie Callahan and Sam Stacey finished fourth at 170 and 235. Marissa Cline competed for the Golden Hawks as well at 130.
For WACO, Rylee Rice was the lone first-place finisher at 110. Rice pinned all her opponents. Bralyyn Wagler took second at 235. Grace Fort finished third at 190. At 170, Destiny Boone finished fifth. At 125 Heaven Steege took sixth. Emma Szewczyk wrestled for the Warrior as well at 170.
Washington was led by Teegan Sulentich at 155. Sulentich won by fall twice and medical forfeit. Jillian Langstraat finished fifth at 115 and Jenna Bose took sixth at 145.
Jayden Housch led Mt. Pleasant with a fourth-place finish at 130. Zenlynn Lee followed with a fifth-place final at 190.
Highland was the only other Union area team to compete over the weekend.
The Huskies took 17th with 66 points at the Oelwein Girls Invite in Oelwein.
Angelina Roling was the Huskies highest placer on the day. Roling was a first-place finisher at 115. She won five straight matches by fall.
Abbie Grout (100) and Lilly Barre (125) each ended with a fifth-place finish. Mackenzie McFarland took eighth at 110.
