WELLMAN - In just its second year competing in the National Archery Schools Program, the Golden Hawk Archery team qualified a number of archers to compete in a virtual state meet.
They are Zane Fisher, Zoe Fisher, Koby Karnes, Cecil Kelley, Landon Kuenster,
Camden Miller, Morgyn Nafziger, Kaylee Shirkey, and Elijah Statler.
Hard work by all the club members has made a difference in connecting on the bull's-eyes. The club was limited to 50 this year due to the different accommodations that had to be made.
Key to the success of the club in its two years is a team of coaches and volunteers that make competing possible. Megan Jorgensen, Kent Karnes, Jeremy Kuenster, Craig Morrison, Casey Peck, Valarie Sieren, Jeremy Statler, and Kari Statler have dedication their time and that has made a difference in the continued success of a new program.
Part of initiating a new endeavor is the support of local business. The West Chester Heritage Association has allowed the club the opportunity to practice in its facility.
'It was much appreciated,” Peck said. 'Thank you to all of our business donors that helped us get some new equipment, including 3D targets which we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of.”
