Golden Hawk boys win at Monticello
Swartzentruber paces boys’ team; Fleming leads Mid-Prairie girls to 2nd

MONTICELLO — The Mid-Prairie cross-country teams traveled to Monticello on Saturday for a boy-girl meet, and the Golden Hawks showed out with a first and second place finish.
The Mid-Prairie boys took first place, scoring 66 points, which was nine better than Denver’s 75. The Golden Hawk girls scored 94 points for second.
Emmett Swartzentruber took second place in the boys’ race. Swartzentruber finished the race in 16 minutes, 31.8 seconds, just 12 ticks out of first place overall. Jayse Yoder and Preston Yutzy finished in 16:58.5 and 17:02.6 respectively, to finish sixth and seventh.
Levi Benesh took 22nd in the boys’ race. Daniel Rodgers took 36th. Jesse Stultz was 49th, and Jacob Donaldson took 58th.
The Mid-Prairie girls were led by Abby Fleming, who took eighth place, in 20:20.6. Brooklyn Stutzman finished 16th, in 20:40.2, and Phoebe Shetler was 18th, in 20:46.9.
Annika Poll finished 30th overall. Dessa Poll took 37th. Greta Sieren and Kendal Landstrum took 40th and 41st respectively.
