Golden Hawks advance past West Liberty
Karson Gingerich notched four RBIs on Saturday, as the Mid-Prairie baseball team opened up district play in Class 2A.
The Golden Hawks took on West Liberty in a first-round game in Louisa-Muscatine, and came away with a 13-9 victory in a high-scoring affair, led by Gingerich?s big night at the plate.

Karson Gingerich notched four RBIs on Saturday, as the Mid-Prairie baseball team opened up district play in Class 2A.
The Golden Hawks took on West Liberty in a first-round game in Louisa-Muscatine, and came away with a 13-9 victory in a high-scoring affair, led by Gingerich?s big night at the plate.
The win advances Mid-Prairie to face Wilton, at Wilton, on Tuesday night.
Mid-Prairie had eight hits in the victory, and received help from six West Liberty errors and seven Comet walks.
Jacob Leonard was the only Hawk to record multiple hits in the game, going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, while Gingerich went 1-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs.
The Hawks used three pitchers to get through the game, with Brad Tornow starting the game and finishing with Adam Schrock, who was credited with the win.
Wilton had a bye in the first round of the playoffs, and owns a doubleheader sweep of the Golden Hawks coming last Wednesday, July 6.
First pitch for the district semifinal is scheduled for 7 p.m.
