KALONA - Mid-Prairie's boys golf team won its second meet of the season, edging River Valley Conference foe West Branch 178-181 Monday.
Noah Schlabaugh led the Golden Hawks Hawks with a 3-over par 39 to earn medalist honors. His round was highlighted with six pars.
Teammate Ryan Smit finished third, missing runner-up by one stroke shooting a 41. Monte Slabaugh played a steady round and turned in a 45. Dominic McCain rounded out the scoring with a 53.
'I am proud with how we have started the season by winning our first two dual meets,” MP coach Kelby Bender said. 'West Branch is a very good team and will contend at the conference meet. We need to build on this start and keep working hard and improving each day.”
MP plays Louisa-Muscatine tomorrow at Cedar Crest Golf Course in Columbus Junction.
