Despite posting the low team score of their boys golf season thus far, the Golden Hawks lost a River Valley Conference meet against South Division foe West Branch Monday at Kalona Golf Course.
The Bears won 166-191 behind medalist Will Bridges and his score of 38.
“I am proud of our effort with a season low by six strokes,” Mid-Prairie head coach Tracy McArtor said. “Now we go back to work, practice hard and continue to get better.”
Dominic McCain led Mid-Prairie with a round of 3-over-par 39 to earn runner-up medalist honors. After opening with two bogeys, he strung together six consecutive pars before bogeying the ninth hole.
Aiden Bush shot his lowest round of the season, a 46. Mid-Prairie teammate Warren Scarff carded a 51. Ben Mattes and Drew Schlabaugh both shot 55.
Mid-Prairie golfs at Tipton on Monday and hosts a 10-team 18-hole Invitational at the Kalona Golf Course Tuesday.
