FAIRFIELD — The Mid-Prairie boys basketball team continued its run of six-straight wins from late January to early February with another blowout victory on Monday night with a non-conference win at Fairfield.
Mid-Prairie lead from start to finish, knocking the Trojans off 75-28.
“We hit shots early, which is great,” said head coach Daren Lambert. “That gets you started early, which is great, especially on a Monday.”
Mid-Prairie flew out to a 30-7 advantage after one quarter and led 47-16 at the half. The Golden Hawks held Fairfield to four points in the third quarter, enough strong defense to push the lead above 35, and start the running clock.
Senior Bryce Henry, who scored a game-high 19 points, spoke about his team’s ability to not let up.
“We’ve struggled with that this year, and we’re just not going to do it anymore,” Henry said. “We’re peddle to the medal every time we’re on the floor.”
It was the fifth of six-straight double digit wins for the Golden Hawks, who have not lost since Jan. 26.
“You’ve just got to have the dog mentality,” said senior Cyris Christner. “Just start kicking some butt.”
Brooks Weber and Tristan Koller each scored 12 points in the win. Hudson Ehrenfelt and Bo Pennington scored 10 points each. Andrew Rath had four. Clayton Davidson and Kendrick Kos put in three, and Carson Humphrey had two.
Nolan Smith led the Trojans with six points in the loss. Eli Zillman scored five. Andrew Myers, Ethan Bisgard and Voss Richardson scored three apiece. Axl Starr, Spencer McCready and Brock Atwood each scored two.
After a home win over Alburnett one night later, Mid-Prairie is now 14-5. Fairfield fell to 2-16 with the loss.
