Golden Hawks girls take second place at Cedar Valley Conference meet
The Mid-Prairie girls? track and field team took second place at Monday?s Cedar Valley Conference meet in Durant.
West Branch won the CVC meet with 134 points, and the Golden Hawks were second with 117.5 points.

The Mid-Prairie girls? track and field team took second place at Monday?s Cedar Valley Conference meet in Durant.
West Branch won the CVC meet with 134 points, and the Golden Hawks were second with 117.5 points.
Mid-Prairie won conference titles in three events, including the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. The quartet of Lexi Duwa, Meghan Redlinger, Kattie Redlinger and Faithe Garza won the 4x100 relay in 51.22 seconds, and the same four runners won the 4x200 relay in 1:49.92.
Senior Mallory McArtor won the 800-meter run in 2:27.65, and teammate Jessie Butters finished fifth in 2:32.20.
Meghan Redlinger took second place in the 100-meter dash in 13.11 seconds, and twin sister Kattie crossed the finish line one one-hundredth of a second later in third place. Kattie Redlinger finished second in the 200-meter dash in 27.34 seconds, and teammate Alex Rath came in seventh in 28.83 seconds. Sophomore Sadie Goll finished fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:08.90.
Garza took second place in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:11.76, and McArtor was third in 1:12.16. Mid-Prairie?s shuttle hurdle relay team of Ali Naylor, Erika Gingerich, Naomi Frantz and Annette McGaffey finished fourth in 1:24.74.
Rath cleared 4 feet, 6 inches to tie for third place in the high jump competition, and freshman Emily Cayton came in sixth in the long jump competition with a leap of 13 feet, 8.75 inches. Senior Ashley Goll finished sixth in the discus competition with a throw of 113 feet, 4 inches, and sophomore Taylor Kurtz was eighth in the shot put competition with a toss of 30 feet, 8 inches.
Freshmen Hannah Van Roekel and Maddie Zahradnek finished fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run. Van Roekel crossed the finish line in 12:18.16, while Zahradnek recorded a time of 13:09.55. Senior Tayler Foster came in sixth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:39.40.
Mid-Prairie?s 4x800 relay team of Rath, Arissa Marine, Foster and Cayton finished fourth in 11:10.83, and the quartet of Marine, Foster, Butters and McArtor was sixth in the 4x400 relay in 4:33.81. The sprint medley relay team of Rath, Naylor, Courtney Shalla and Goll came in seventh in 2:05.64, and the distance medley squad of Shalla, Gingerich, Frantz and Zahradnek was seventh in 5:03.76.
The Mid-Prairie boys scored 65 points and finished sixth at the conference meet. Iowa City Regina won the CVC title with 137 points.
The Golden Hawks won conference titles in the 4x800 and 1,600 medley relays. The quartet of Ty Feigenspan, Evan Wild, Zeb Schwartz and Jake O?Donnell won the 4x800 relay in 8:32.18, and the 1,600 medley relay team of Colin Weber, Jacob Adrian, Ryan Hoffman and Jack Draper took first place in 3:46.24.
Hoffman, a senior, just missed winning conference titles in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, as he finished second to West Liberty?s Ty Williams in both races. Hoffman?s time of 11.31 seconds in the 100 was less than two-tenths of a second off that of Williams, and his time of 22.91 seconds in the 200 was less than eight-tenths of a second slower than that of Williams.
Mid-Prairie?s 4x400 relay team of Adrian, Zach Schwartz, Feigenspan and Wild took third place in 3:42.18. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Zach Schwartz, Blake Schwartz, Jonah Van Roekel and Cameron Tolander finished sixth in 1:19.33, and the 4x200 relay team of Adrian, Blake Schwartz, Tolander and David Fladung was sixth in 1:49.81. The quartet of Blake Schwartz, Austin Slabaugh, Tolander and Fladung came in eighth in the 4x100 relay in 52.84 seconds.
Jack Draper took fifth place in the 400-meter dash in 53.56 seconds, and Weber was seventh in 54.94 seconds. Sophomore Jared Draper finished sixth in the 1,600-meter run in 4:52.66, and Zeb Schwartz was eighth in 5:00.22.
Zach Schwartz took sixth place in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.86. Freshman Ryan Errthum finished seventh in the 3,200-meter run in 11:05.87, and O?Donnell was eighth in the 800-meter run in 2:11.22.
The Mid-Prairie girls? and boys? track teams will compete at the Class 2A state qualifying meet at Eddyville-Blakesburg at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
