Golden Hawks swept on road
Mid-Prairie falls twice at rival Regina

IOWA CITY — The Mid-Prairie basketball teams fell in a River Valley South battle at rival Iowa City Regina on Thursday night. The Regals topped the Golden Hawks 70-46 in the girls’ game and 69-52 in the boys’ game.
Regina won the first two quarters of the girls’ game, taking a 36-21 lead at the break. The Regals scored a game-high 22 points in the third quarter and led 58-29 after three quarters.
Mid-Prairie scored 17 points in the fourth, the most of any period, but by that time the damage was done.
Brylee Gearhart led Mid-Prairie with 11 points in the loss. Jovi Evans had eight. Callie Huber scored seven. Brooklyn Schneider had six. Myli Hershberger and Morgyn Bender each scored four, and the duo of Katelyn Harland and Nora Pennington finished with three points each.
The Mid-Prairie boys had a rough start, giving up 26 points in the first period. Regina led 26-7 after one quarter, 38-19 at halftime and 50-35 after three periods.
Despite the loss, the Golden Hawks got a great outing out of Bryce Henry, who hit three 3-pointers and scored 23 points. He also co-led the team with six rebounds.
Dylan Henry scored 15 points on the day. Brady Weber scored eight points and six rebounds, and Ace Peck finished with six points.
