Playing in its first-ever tournament, the 12th-ranked Mid-Prairie girls? soccer team won the West Liberty tournament on Saturday.

-ranked Mid-Prairie girls? soccer team won the West Liberty tournament on Saturday.
The Golden Hawks opened the tournament by facing Class 3A Clinton, and the match ended in a scoreless tie.
In their second match, Mid-Prairie edged Mt. Pleasant 2-1. The Golden Hawks got goals from senior Kattie Redlinger and sophomore Ali Riggan, while sophomore Renee Buckwalter and Redlinger provided assists.
That win sent the Golden Hawks into the championship match, where they again faced Clinton. The match was again scoreless until senior Meghan Redlinger was tripped in the box with 1:49 remaining in the second half. Kattie Redlinger nailed the penalty kick, and Mid-Prairie (9-3-1) held the River Queens scoreless for the final two minutes to seal the victory.
