Washington grappler will stay in Iowa for collegiate wrestling

WASHINGTON — The 2023-24 high school wrestling season may be over, but Washington senior Chase Greiner won’t be finished with his time on the mats any time soon.

Greiner recently signed his letter of intent to attend and wrestle at Central College in Pella, joining the Dutch team in the fall of 2024.

The Demon senior went 38-7 this season, earning an All-Southeast Conference first team nod at 165 pounds. Greiner wrestled at both 157 and 165 this season.

Greiner is a former state qualifier in wrestling, making the 2023 state meet as a junior.

Greiner will join a Central College team that went 12-4 this season. The Dutch went 4-4 in American River Conference play.

Greiner is also a major contributor to the Demon football team, boys’ track team and baseball team.
