Hawk boys earn first meet win
It was a strong day for the Mid-Prairie boys? golf team.
Four Golden Hawks shot under 50 on Monday at the Kalona Golf Course, including the top four individual scores of the meet, as Mid-Prairie won its first meet of the season, knocking off West Liberty.
The Hawks shot a season-low 191 on the day, led by meet medalist Seth Mann, who carded a 45, highlighted by a pair of 3s on holes eight and nine.

The Hawks shot a season-low 191 on the day, led by meet medalist Seth Mann, who carded a 45, highlighted by a pair of 3s on holes eight and nine.
Zach Owens was the runner-up at the meet, notching a 48 on the day, while Ryan Slabaugh and Collin Gingerich each posted 49s to round out the counting scores.
?We keep working hard and making improvements and it is starting to show,? Mid-Prairie head coach Kelby Bender said. ?The golfers were excited about the team?s performance and the win. We have been working hard all year to get four scores in the 40s and finally accomplished that today. Our next goal is to get our team score down into the 180s.?
The scratch scores for Mid-Prairie came from Michael Callahan?s 50 and Duncan McCain?s 55.
Mid-Prairie?s JV team was led by Sam Bailey, who posted a 48 on the day, including a pair of pars on the eighth and ninth holes.
