The Mid-Prairie boys? golf team traveled to Solon for its conference meet on Tuesday afternoon, and came away feeling good about themselves.
As a team, the Hawks shot a 385, which put them in 13th place, but all 13 teams in the conference ended up within 50 strokes of each other.
?I was very pleased with how the boys played today,? Mid-Prairie head coach Kelby Bender said. ?I thought they showed great improvements through the season and they capped it off with a competitive and respectful 385. Our conference is really good and we gained valuable experience this season. Three shot their season- and personal-best 18-hole score and three scored a nine-hole season- and personal-best score today.?
Freshman Michael Callahan led the Hawks with a 90 (46, 44), followed by sophomore Seth Mann?s 93 (43, 50).
Sophomore Zach Owens had a 100 (49, 51), followed by freshman Collin Gingerich?s 102 (53, 49), sophomore Ethan Danner?s 104 (51, 53), and freshman Ryan Slabaugh?s 108 (54, 54).
The boys? team will host its sectional meet on Friday at the Kalona Golf Club. Play will begin at 9 a.m.
