Mid-Prairie went to Durant for its first 18-hole meet of the season on Tuesday and came away with some of its better results of the season.
The Hawks boys shot a season-low nine-hole score of 188 to open the day, and improved upon that with a 176 on the back nine to take seventh place at the 12-team meet.
?I was very pleased with how we finished the meet,? Mid-Prairie head coach Kelby Bender said. ?Being our first 18-hole meet of the season I thought we handled it very well and showed that we can compete. Five of the six improved their score from the front nine to the back nine and the sixth shot two good consistent rounds. I really like the improvement that our team is showing each meet.?
Mid-Praire was led by sophomores Michael Callahan and Collin Gingerich, who each shot 89s on the day, placing them in an individual tie for 22nd.
Zach Owen carded a 92 for the day, while Seth Mann notched a 94 to round out the counting scores for Mid-Prairie.
Duncan McCain (97) and Ryan Slaubaugh (101) were the scratch scores for the Golden Hawks.
Solon won the tournament with a team score of 321, with Durant?s Lake Koenig earning medalist honors with a 71.
