Mid-Prairie faced top competition on Monday night, and came away with more program history.
The Mid-Prairie girls? team finished in second place at the Solon Invitational, behind only North Scott, and came away with the program?s first team victory over Williamsburg at the meet.
?To be able to compete with and beat a program with such rich tradition is a high honor,? Mid-Prairie assistant coach Aaron Fleming said. ?Though state qualifying assignments have not yet been released, Williamsburg may well be in our district and will be a contender for a district title, so it is exciting for our girls to have the prospect of being able to compete with them in the post season.?
The Hakws were led by Anna Hostetler?s fourth-place finish, running a season-best time of 20:40 along the 5,000-meter course.
She was followed by junior Abby Tornow?s 15th-place finish (22:01), senior Maddi Zahradnek?s 16th-place finish (22:02) and junior Greta Schmidt?s 17th-place finish (22:06), while senior Hannah Van Roekel ran a 22:46 for a 28th place spot to round out the scoring.

On the boys? side of the meet, the Hawks finished unofficially in second place according to Fleming, as one runner was omitted from the final scoring.
Andrew Schwartz ran an 18:36 for 28th place, but on the final results did not show up on Mid-Prairie?s scoring, leaving them in fourth place. With Schwartz?s points, the Hawks would have finished Mount Vernon, the No. 2 ranked school in Class 3A.

Senior Ryan Errthum finished in 21st place with an 18:18, while sophomore Peyton Miller ran an 18:22 for 22nd overall.
