DONNELLSON -- Sometimes one team just has the number of another team.
The Class 4A Washington High School Demons softball team has played the Class 3A Central Lee Hawks six times in the last four years.
The Demons won the first three games, but after Wednesday's game, Central Lee has won three straight. The Hawks took an 11-1 victory in six innings.
The game turned into a rout late, but it was a nail-biter until the sixth inning.
Central Lee scored first, getting a run off Washington pitcher Alexa Mitchell.
Washington knotted the game at 1-1 in the fourth inning when Kellie Dallmeyer plated Kaitlyn Mitchell, who had the only two Washington hits, connecting on a double and a single.
The Hawks' 10-run sixth inning spelled disaster for Washington as Central Lee chased Alexa Mitchell from the circle for Cara Linnenkamp. The Hawks scored three more runs off of Linnenkamp, but none were earned.
Washington had four errors in the game and the Hawks one. Washington issued five walks and Central Lee two.
