It was a good season for the Mid-Prairie baseball team in 2015.
The Hawks increased their win total by four wins from last season, finishing at .500 with a 13-13 record, as opposed to the 9-22 record from 2014.
With the success, a number of Golden Hawks earned recognition on the state?s All-District teams led by the lone Mid-Prairie senior.
Shortstop Jackson Yoder batted .388 in his final year as a Golden Hawk, accounting for team-highs in triples (1), doubles (7) and slugging percentage (.500) on the season.
Yoder finished the season with 17 RBIs and 19 runs scored, to go with 31 hits, placing him second on the team in that category. He also drew 11 walks on the year, increasing his on-base percentage to a team-high .484.
The Mid-Prairie senior also ate up a few key innings for the Golden Hawks in 2015, spending 25 innings on the mound, and striking out 25 batters, posting a 3-4 record and a 4.76 ERA.
Yoder is joined on the Class 2A Southeast District team by two younger Golden Hawks who each made a big impact this season.
Sophomore Derek Rich was strong for the Hawks at the plate and on the mound for the Hawks.
Rich posted a 3-0 record on the season to go with a 2.23 ERA in 44 innings and nine starts.
In those 44 innings, Rich struck out 55 batters, and only issued nine walks, finishing the year with a WHIP of 1.20.
At the plate, Rich was equally impressive, posting team-highs in batting average (.393), RBIs (24) and hits (35).
Rich scored nine runs on the season and drew nine walks, and will look to build on that year going into his junior
season.
Earning second-team honors on the All-District team was junior Adam Schrock.
Like Rich, Schrock was a dual threat for the Hawks, as he led the team with a 2.08 ERA in 43 2/3 innings pitched.
Schrock struck out 24 batters and finished the year with a WHIP of 1.32.
At the plate, Schrock batted .239 with an on-base percentage of .316, and knocked in 15 RBIs. Schrock scored 10 runs with 21 hits and drew three walks on the season.
