Hawks earn two dual wins

It was a good night for the Mid-Prairie wrestling team on Thursday, claiming a pair of duals at a triangular in North Cedar.

The Hawks took victories over the host Knights (57-16) and over Bellevue (48-16) on the night, improving its dual record to 6-1.

In the dual against Bellevue, the Hawks earned seven of their eight victories by forfeit, with Brent Foster, Ethan Danner, Jason Tew, Visouth Peterschmidt, Levi Dua, Garrett Sexton and Miles Burrows claiming the easy victories.

In the five matches that were wrestled, the Hawks only picked up one victory, coming from Duncan McCain at 120 pounds. McCain earned a pin at 3:13 over Bellevue?s Austin Michels.

In the other four matches, Bellevue picked up two pin falls, a 6-1 decision and a 9-0 major decision.

Three weight classes had double forfeits on the night.

Against North Cedar, the Golden Hawks? three wins by forfeit came from Burrows, McCain and Jeremiah Boos.

In the other victories, Mid-Prairie picked up pin falls from David Murray (2:50, 132 pounds), Elisha Sir-Louis (1:38, 145 pounds), Brent Foster (1:43, 152 pounds), Tew (3:59, 170 pounds), Peterschmidt (2:28, 195 pounds) and Duwa (0:56, 220 pounds).

Cameron Tolander (182 pounds) earned a victory for the Hawks in the ultimate tiebreaker, claiming a 3-2 victory.

In North Cedar?s three victories, one came by pin fall, one by 5-0 decision and another by forfeit.

Mid-Prairie will be at a tournament in North Linn on Saturday, starting at 8 a.m.
