Unearned runs doomed the Mid-Prairie baseball team on Monday night, as they opened up their postseason play against Central Lee.
Six of the eight runs given up by the Hawks went down as unearned, as Mid-Prairie fell 8-7, ending their season at home.
Braeden Nielsen had the big hit for the Hawks in the fifth inning, using a double to make it 7-5 in favor of Mid-Prairie, but Central Lee rebounded in the sixth.
A double and a throwing error made it 7-7 heading to the seventh, where a double and another error put Mid-Prairie in a hole, 8-7.
In the bottom of the seventh, Mid-Prairie put runners on second and third with one out, but a pop-up and a strikeout ended the threat, and ended the season for Mid-Prairie.
The Hawks finished the season at 13-14, and will say goodbye to one senior on the roster, Jackson Yoder.
Yoder led the team with a .484 on-base percentage, batting .388 on the year, including 17 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
