Hawks take third at home tourney
Mid-Prairie only lost once over the weekend, but it knocked them down to third place at the Golden Hawks? home volleyball tournament held in Wellman on Saturday.

Mid-Prairie only lost once over the weekend, but it knocked them down to third place at the Golden Hawks? home volleyball tournament held in Wellman on Saturday.
The Hawks fell to Regina in a semifinal match but defeated Washington (one of two victories over Washington on the day) for third place overall at the tournament.
Washington took fourth place at the Hawks? tournament.
Mid-Prairie opened pool play against Sigourney with a straight set victory, downing the Savages 21-19, 21-10.
Jaedynn Evans led the team with seven kills in the match, while Clarice Murphy and Sami Miller combined for 15 assists.
In the first game against Washington, the Hawks cruised to a 21-9, 21-11 victory, led by Evans? seven kills. Jazmyne Jones added two kills, and added two blocks to her credit to claim the victory.
Washington was led by Amber Salow?s two kills in the match, as the Demons only managed four kills. Salow also had four digs to lead the team, while converting all five of her serve attempts.
The Hawks advanced to face Regina in the semifinals, and took them to the brink, splitting the first two sets 20-25, 25-22, but fell in a tight 15-13 final set.
Ali Butters and Emily Cayton led the Hawks in the loss, each recording eight kills, while Murphy and Miller combined for 25 assists in the contest.
In the third-place match against the Demons, it was a closer match, but Mid-Prairie was able to win in straight sets, claiming the 25-16, 25-12 victory.
Evans led the team with eight kills, while Miller and Murphy had 15 assists to help the Hawks to the victory.
For the Demons in the third-place match, Liv Postl racked up two kills to lead the team (Washington had six kills for the match), while Emma Stout had seven digs to lead the team to a fourth-place finish.
In the Demons? pool play against Sigourney, they had success against the Savages, claiming a straight set, 21-11, 21-9 victory, led by a balanced attack. Junior Jessie Buchholz had a team-high three kills, while five other Demons recorded two in the match. Buchholz and sophomore Megan Mitchell also led the team with four assists apiece, while Salow had a team-high nine digs.
In the semifinal match against West Liberty, a 21-11, 21-7 loss, Salow and Postl each recorded two kills, while Buchholz and Mitchell combined for six assists.
Washington and Mid-Prairie will meet once again on Thursday, the next match for both teams. The match is set to begin at 7:30 at Mid-Prairie.
