With COVID-19 still being a prevalent concern around the county and world, Henry County Health Center would like to reiterate some of the myths that pertain to the virus.
Shelley Van Dorin, the Henry County Health Center Public Health Director reiterated a few COVID-19 myths that are still being pitched around.
One of the main myths that Van Dorin mentioned pertained to the COVID-19 vaccine and that it’s not FDA approved, which is not the case.
She also mentioned that the vaccine has been effective at preventing death and hospitalization.
False and misinformation has been one of the main distractions to go along with the virus and vaccine.
“There’s been much misinformation on COVID, at times it’s hard to stay current on what is myth and what is fact,” Van Dorin read. “When looking for information, remember to use well know reparable sites. Some examples are the CDC, The Iowa Department of Public Health and John Hopkins University of Iowa Health Care. Coronavirus continues to be studied as patients are treated and fully FDA approved vaccinations are provided to the public. The understanding of COVID and treatments are evolving each day. Vaccination is the best prevention for yourself and others. Young adults that may not get ill with the virus can still transmit to a vulnerable population, including elderly, expecting mothers and young children.”
