The 2021 spring sports season will officially be fully underway on Monday as the last sport begin kicks off with its first practices.
The area's local girls soccer teams will be able to take the fields for the first time since 2019. The 2020 season was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic before practice was ever able to get off the ground.
The girls started one week after the boys, who began practice this week, along with both girls and boys golf and girls and boys tennis teams.
The track and field teams, of course, have already begun indoor meets, so even though the Union coverage area hasn't seen a home even yet, the spring frenzy is finally here.
The regular season for high school girls soccer will begin on Monday, April 5. Mt. Pleasant will host Columbus Community on that day. Washington will travel to Oskaloosa.
Fairfield will begin its girls soccer schedule three days after the Panthers and Demons, when they host Burlington on Thursday, April 8.
