Jared Henry of Washington threw 6 1/3 solid innings in the opening game of Cornell College?s doubleheader against Presentation College at Southeast Polk High School on Saturday, but the Rams surrendered the lead and lost 9-7 in 11 innings.
Henry, a freshman, started and allowed three earned runs on nine hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out three batters and walked one. When Henry left the game, his team was leading 5-4, but the Saints scored a run to tie the game and send the scheduled seven-inning contest to extra innings. Cornell (2-7) also surrendered a late lead in the second game of the doubleheader, which was played through snow flurries. Presentation (7-7) rallied for three runs in its final at-bat to take the nightcap 6-3. The Rams left 19 total runners on base in the two games and also gave away six unearned runs.
