RIVERSIDE — Highland senior Katie Herrig will be playing basketball at the next level. On Tuesday, Herrig signed her letter of intent to intend and play women’s basketball at Clarke University in Dubuque.
Herrig is right in the middle of helping her Highland team battle in a competitive Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division. The Huskies are 10-4 on the year, and 6-4 in conference play, thanks in part to Herrig’s 4.9 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game and team-leading 3.8 assists per game.
Herrig is coming off a junior year where she finished second on the team in scoring, at 5.9 points per game. She was the leading returner from last winter’s squad.
Herrig will join a Clarke team that currently holds an 8-7 record. The Pride are a part of the Heart of Iowa Conference, where they’re sitting with a 6-6 league record.
Herrig and the Huskies absolutely smothered Cedar Valley Christian 53-4 on Herrig’s senior night on Tuesday. Highland has a big home showdown with first-place Columbus this Friday.
