DONNELLSON — It was a tough night for New London on Tuesday, as the Tigers fell to Central Lee 9-1.
The Hawks came out swinging, putting up six runs in a dominant first inning to take immediate control of the game.
Central Lee extended their lead in the second when Kenna Sandoval launched a two-run home run, pushing the score to 8-0. Despite a strong defensive effort the rest of the way, allowing just one more run, New London couldn’t mount a comeback.
The Tigers managed their lone run in the third inning but were held in check the rest of the night.
With the loss, New London drops to 1-10 on the season. They'll aim to bounce back Thursday against a solid Mediapolis squad (6-3).
