Highland 3rd, Fairfield 4th in Fort Madison girls wrestling tournament

FORT MADISON — Two area girls wrestling teams were in Fort Madison on Monday, as the Bloodhounds hosted their home tournament. Highland took third in the meet, and Fairfield finished tied for fourth.
Highland used two second-place finishes and two third-place finishes to score 44 points on the day.
Finishing second for Highland at 110 pounds was Mackenzie McFarland. She fell by pinfall in the first round but dominated her next to matches, nothing pins in 22 seconds and 28 seconds respectively.
At 120 pounds, Angelina Roling finished second. She won her first three matches of the day but fell to undefeated Adison Musser of Anamosa in the fifth round.
Highland’s Abbie Grout took third at 100 pounds. Lilly Barre was third at 125 pounds.
The lone Union area winner on the day was Fairfield’s Alyvia Abbott. Abbott had three pins on the day, beating McFarland of Highland by pinfall in 4 minutes, 19 seconds and beating Anamosa’s Ryan Carlson and Fort Madison’s Ella Wright on pins of 41 seconds and 28 seconds respectively.

Fairfield had three fourth place finishes. Jaydin Sharfe was fourth at 120 pounds. Nora Salek was fourth at 135B, and Arwyd Hays won at 155 pounds.
