Highland baseball continues hot streak
The Highland baseball team has been hot as of late, and that continued on Monday night.
The Huskies (9-5) put up their fifth win in six tries when they took on Iowa Mennonite (3-11), defeating them 2-1 at home.
Billy Burton and Zach Kleopfer each scored for the Huskies, as Colton Schneider and Ben Bean each had RBIs in the contest.
Adam Schwarz led the Huskies with two of the five hits in the game.

The Highland baseball team has been hot as of late, and that continued on Monday night.
The Huskies (9-5) put up their fifth win in six tries when they took on Iowa Mennonite (3-11), defeating them 2-1 at home.
Billy Burton and Zach Kleopfer each scored for the Huskies, as Colton Schneider and Ben Bean each had RBIs in the contest.
Adam Schwarz led the Huskies with two of the five hits in the game.
Sophomore Caleb Brase shut down IMS, pitching seven innings and allowing six hits, striking out six in the contest.
On the season, Burton leads the team with a .444 average, reaching base at a clip of .545.
Burton also leads the team with 22 RBIs and 20 runs scored, as well as 18 stolen bases.
For IMS in the loss, Blake Bontrager tossed all six innings, allowing only five hits and one earned run, striking out five.
Drake Brezina and Payton Miller each had two hits in the game, with Kirby Shetler scoring the lone IMS run.
IMS has now lost four straight games, and seven of its last eight contests.
The team is led by Payton Miller?s average of .419 and on-base percentage of .510.
Tobyn Bender has 13 RBIs to lead the team, while Drake Brezina and Shetler are tied for the team lead with 15 runs apiece.
IMS will take on Mediapolis on Thursday night, while Highland will face WACO on the road.
Keota downs HLV
The Keota baseball team got its bats rolling on Monday night, taking care of conference foe HLV.
The Eagle exploded for a combined 12 runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take the victory in six, 13-3.
Dakota Slaughter went 3-for-4 in the contest, picking up four RBIs, while Jacob Wickencamp, Zach Mousel, Nate Sieren and Zach Eaking each scored two runs.
Wickencamp and Cole Brenneman each had two hits in the contest, as Keota had 11 hits at the end of the game.
On the mound, Mousel struck out six in his six innings, allowing one earned run on four hits and three walks.
The Eagles improved to 6-9 with the win, ending a three-game losing streak.
On the year, Nate Sieren leads the team with an average of .414, while Eakins has a team-high on-base percentage of .469.
Anthony Campbell leads the team with 11 RBIs, while Wickencamp has a team-high 15 runs scored on the season.
Keota will take on Iowa Valley at home on Friday.
