Highland baseball earns pair of wins
The Highland baseball team picked up a pair of strong victories since the start of the week, powering past Danville with a 15-4 five-inning victory and knocking off Central Lee 2-0.

The Highland baseball team picked up a pair of strong victories since the start of the week, powering past Danville with a 15-4 five-inning victory and knocking off Central Lee 2-0.
In the victory over the Bears on Monday night, catcher Garrett Colbert only notched one hit, but drove in four RBIs in the contest, pacing the team in that category.
Second baseman Spencer Wieland scored three runs on a 4-for-4 night, while Chase Rath went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk.
Josh Michel also had a pair of hits, as the Huskies notched 14 hits in the victory.
Michel also earned the win on the mound, allowing five hits in four innings of work, striking out two Danville batters.
On Tuesday, the Huskies hosted Central Lee, and were held to only four hits in the contest, but a stellar night on the mound from Rath propelled them to a win.
Rath tossed a three-hitter, issuing two walks and striking out 12 in the process, earning the 2-0 victory for the Huskies.
Michel had a pair of hits for the Huskies, while Trey Lasek hit a walk-off homerun for both Huskie RBIs, coming in the bottom of the seventh.
Bill Burton also notched a hit in the game for the Huskies.
Highland will host Wapello on Thursday.
Mid-Prairie baseball sweeps West Branch
Mid-Prairie picked up a pair of 9-1 victories on Monday night.
The Golden Hawks used strong performances throughout each game to claim the two victories, including a two-hit, two-RBI performance from Jared Miller in Game 1 to claim the win.
Brad Tornow threw seven strong innings in the victory, allowing just five hits and one unearned run in the game.
In Game 2, Miller added three RBIs and three hits to his strong night, while Derek Rich claimed two hits and two runs for the Hawks.
Adam Schrock struck out 10 in the game, allowing six hits and one earned run, issuing one walk on the way.
Mid-Prairie will have a doubleheader against Wapello on Wednesday night.
