Highland basketball teams remain undefeated
Both Highland basketball teams are heading into their games tomorrow at Mediapolis with a perfect record.
The girls have won all seven games with their latest win coming over Pekin Tuesday, Dec. 13. In the 47-40 victory, Highland took the lead after the first quarter going up 12-9. They only had a 2-point lead at the half scoring another eight points to Pekin?s nine taking the score to 20-18.

Both Highland basketball teams are heading into their games tomorrow at Mediapolis with a perfect record.
The girls have won all seven games with their latest win coming over Pekin Tuesday, Dec. 13. In the 47-40 victory, Highland took the lead after the first quarter going up 12-9. They only had a 2-point lead at the half scoring another eight points to Pekin?s nine taking the score to 20-18.
After the break, Highland took control of the floor adding 16 points to Pekin?s eight and while they gave up 14 points to Pekin in the final quarter, Highland scored 11 to secure the win.
For the boys, they beat Pekin 64-49 Tuesday, taking the team to 5-0. It was all Highland in the first quarter as the were up 17-12 before having just a 3-point lead at half giving up 16 points to Pekin while scoring 14 making the score 31-28.
The third quarter would remain close as the Huskies added 17 more and the Panthers scored 12 for a 48-40 lead going into the final frame.
Highland would pull ahead in the fourth quarter scoring 16 points while Pekin scored nine securing the win.
Senior Bill Burton led the team with 18 points while having seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Trent Lasek scored nine points with six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Zack Lasek also contributed nine points in the game with nine rebounds and one steal.
Chase Rath scored eight points, had one rebound, four assists and two steals.
Trey Lasek scored seven points in the game, had six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Jake Wood had five points, two rebounds, three assists and one block.
Bryce Clark added four points and had two rebounds while Spencer Arnold had two buckets for four points and had one rebound.
Both teams play at Mediapolis tomorrow night with the girls taking to the court beginning at 6 p.m.
