Highland clipped by Class 2A No. 13 Wapello softball
Another 2-1 SEISC North squeaker with a ranked team

WAPELLO — Highland High School was edged in a 2-1 Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division softball game loss Thursday to Wapello, ranked No. 13 in Class 2A.
The visiting Huskies mushed up three hits, and the Arrows shot out five for the 2-1 win that put both Wapello’s and Highland’s overall record at 15-6.
Alliyah Lolling walked four and struck out five for the Wapello win while losing pitcher Grace Batcheller surrendered five hits, one walk, two hit batters and four strikeouts. Jessica Kraus came in for the last two Arrows outs, which were both punch outs. Huskies teammates Payton Brun, Sarah Burton and Kraus had a hit apiece. Batcheller scored the lone Huskies run when Kraus singled in the second inning.
The Arrows tied it in the bottom of the second inning and scored the go-ahead run in the sixth. Wapello is in third place in the North with a record of 8-3 while the Huskies are fourth best in the division at 9-4. Class 2A No. 4 Louisa-Muscatine is 16-8, 11-1, while 1A No. 13 Winfield-Mount Union is 14-4, 10-3.
