BROOKLYN - The Highland High School football team dropped its district opener to BGM Friday 28-7.
The Huskies started well, responding to a BGM long touchdown pass with an 87-yard scoring pass from Connor Grinstead to Owen Donovan.
'The turning point was the next possession,” Highland co-head coach Scott Morel said. 'They ran the kickoff back to our 30 and scored from there. We fumbled after that and they had another short field. I thought we played well, but they took advantage of our mistakes.”
It was 21-7 at halftime.
Grinstead was 7 of 13 passing for 222 yards with Mason McFarland catching four balls for 121 yards.
Cole adamson had 11 tackles to lead the Huskies' defense.
'Isaac Black played well in the D-line,” Morel said. 'We worked on that this week and didn't give up the big run.”
The Huskies are 3-2 and host Pekin Friday.
