Highland falls in weekend duals
The Highland wrestling team competed in five duals over the weekend at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont high school and, as a team, fell in each one.
The Huskies faced Des Moines East, Iowa Valley, Mount Pleasant, Waukee and the host Eddyvile-Blakesburg, and picked up a number of wins, but couldn?t get over the hump for a dual victory.

The Highland wrestling team competed in five duals over the weekend at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont high school and, as a team, fell in each one.
The Huskies faced Des Moines East, Iowa Valley, Mount Pleasant, Waukee and the host Eddyvile-Blakesburg, and picked up a number of wins, but couldn?t get over the hump for a dual victory.
The dual with Waukee was the closest of the night, with Highland falling 48-36, with all 48 of Waukee?s points coming by forfeit.
In the other six matches, Highland won one by forfeit, then went 5-0 in the non-forfeit matches, with all wins coming by pinfall.
Drew West recorded the fastest pin at 33 seconds, followed by Cullen Klebe?s 48-second pin, and Zach Kleopfer?s 52-second pin.
Pins by Ross Frank (1:11) and Bryce West (1:13) rounded out the scoring for the Huskies.
Against Des Moines East, a 48-30 score, Highland lost seven matches due to forfeit, won two by forfeit, and went 3-1 in the actual matches, with wins by Drew West (Fall, nine seconds), Frank (Fall, 1:45) and Klebe (Fall, 2:55).
Against Iowa Valley (54-20 loss), the Huskies went 3-2 in non-forfeit matches, with wins coming from Bryce West (8-5 decision), Frank (Fall 2:46), and Kloepfer (TF, 21-3).
Mount Pleasant held Highland to a 2-1 record in non-forfeit matches, with Frank (12-5 decision) and Kleopfer (Fall 1:20) picking up the victories, and against Eddyville-Blakesburg, the Huskies went 3-3, with wins coming from Bryce West (TF, 17-2), Drew West (Fall 3:30) and Kleopfer (Fall 0:56).
Overall, the Husky wrestlers went 16-7 in non-forfeit matches on Saturday.
Highland will head to Iowa Valley on Thursday night, before hosting a tournament on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.
