Highland girls basketball falls to Sigourney

RIVERSIDE — Monday night brought the visiting Sigourney Savages into Riverside as the Highland girls basketball team hosted a non-conference clash. Highland’s offense couldn’t muster enough points in a 34-20 defeat.

Sigourney led the game 13-8 after one quarter, 18-10 at halftime and 24-13 after three periods.
Highland’s Sarah Burton flirted with a double-double, going for nine points and nine rebounds in the loss. She also had a big defensive game, blocking three shots and finishing with two steals.
Jessica Kraus scored seven points for the Huskies. Kerra Longbine scored two. Stella Slaymaker and Mackenzie Davis both scored one. Katelyn Waters didn’t score, but finished the night with seven rebounds and a team-leading four assists.
